The CELL and theire mind set creeps me out. I attended an event with the Pakistani Ambassador and it was like being in Las Vegas or at a NBA game-lights flashing, colors, glitz, slick women and slickster men at the Art Museum. I'm ashamed that the art museum would allow such politicizing and fear-mongering but no doubt $$$ talks and the architect and backers are all Zionists. They would love nothing better than to have America live under seige and take up the ghetto mentality that pervades Israel-after all misery loves company. On April 27 they'll be hosting the "honorable" Tom Ridge. You know the first Sec of Homeland Security who got lots of bucks claiming in his book that the Bushites pressured him to up the terrorism threat level for the elections, then later backpeddled and denied what was written in black and white in his own book! Weasel. This should be called the Weaselthal center. I don't get these people-the Paki's are notorious for supporting the Taliban and Al-Qaida yet they welcome him to beat the war drums. Ridge is a republican turncoat without ethics who doubles back on his own public statements. Lot's of smoke-n-mirrors going on here but the real agenda seems to be sell weapons and do whatever it takes to make the next billion, use any big name to draw in the people and the $. BTW, I saw two female staff members at a recent speech by Queen Noor, where she was advocating cultural outreach between moderate westerners and moderate muslims and arabs. They left as soon as her talk was over. It was like a reconnaisance mission to scout out the enemy.

Yes, $2 bills are suppose to be pretty popular in the strip joints. But I like spending them as well, since they always seems to "wake people up" when I spend them. And a few people will actually think they are worth something more than $2, and will save them out of the till - Ha. And then you will get a few cashiers that will use those pens to check if they are fake. Oh, and I usually put an order for at least $800 at a time at my bank.

Thanks, Anonymous and Weglar - I also have little tolerance for apologists for the Kremlin regime (which should have been obvious from the post). I will take a little pride that our site has been the target of Russian nationalists who scour the internet looking for anything critical of Russia, then flooding the comments sections. Perhaps this means we've made it to the big time. And Weglar makes an excellent point - you can't make arguments about the "letter of the law" when it is capriciously and arbitrarily enforced. Nothing is beneath the Russian security services - phony permits, agent-provocateurs, and maiming farm animals.

Recently there has been a serious discussion about the death penalty - a handful of states, including Colorado, are considering abolishing it (and two states have - New Mexico and New Jersey), and Russ Feingold has introduced legislation to abolish it on the federal level. Unfortunately, most of these debates have revolved around the death penalty's costs. While it may be an effective political angle to garner public support for abolition, I think it obscures many of the important moral and legal questions, and it demands a sickening moral calculus. Just like death penalty supporters have argued "it's cheaper to kill 'em," opponents shouldn't argue that it's cheaper to keep them alive. Like torture, it's either moral or it's not; costs and other instrumental benefits, in my view, should not be part of a serious discussion.

Since all states now have life in prison without parole, there is effectively no need for the death penalty, as you can guarantee the removal of a dangerous individual from society by imprisoning the convicted.

Study after study has shown that execution has no deterrent value, so there is no convincing rationale beyond bloodlust to kill a human being. Jail is deterrent enough, and removes the guilty from the streets.

I couldn't agree with you any more -- if you do not want to suffer in jail, do not be a criminal. And if you want to be civilized and moral, do not kill people -- by knifing them, shooting them ... or lethally injecting or electrocuting them.

I cannot believe that so much is written about the rights of these murderers, when the reason why they are in death row is the horrible crimes committed against innocent citizens. The day all criminals are executed, is going to be the day that justice will be served. It is my opinion that those that commit a crime should not be given a second opportunity to victimize another person. We need more judges that will impose a punishment that will fit the crime; it is the victim, and not the criminal that we need to remember. The solution is, if you do not want to suffer in jail, do not be a criminal.

And while Druker's building may technically comply with zoning, it needs a slew of special permits to destroy a national historic district, gain environmental and utilities approvals for its sketchy underground parking lot, etc. This building does not exactly follow the letter of the law.
